Winter's shining white pelt stood out in the skeletal remains of what was once a lush, handsome forest, or so her father had once told her. The forest was devoid of life now, dead to the world and incapable of sustaining even the smallest blossom for more than a few days. It was surprising, how scarce the grass was here, and the only trees in sight were mummified from years of volcanic eruptions from the neighboring mountain. Winter knew it was a lifeless, dull place to be, though she felt it suited her mood quite well; she was still grieving over her father's death. And, though Winter knew it was irrational and illogical, she was determined to exact revenge on whatever Savages had caused her father to fall.
The white wolf stepped easily through the dead, skeletal forest. Each paw landed softly against the barren ground, and Winter was careful to avoid snapping any twigs, for the sake of preserving the morbid peace that had settled in the lifeless area. She scented the air for any sign of another living creature, but the stench of death and ash were all that she could register. Her icy blue eyes scanned the landscape as far as they could through the thinning trees. She saw nothing, and smelled nothing. Winter was confident she was completely alone.
Part of her wished that a Savage or two would appear out of nowhere- scarlet eyes wide with bloodlust, white fangs gleaming in the afternoon light, black pelts difficult to see in the barren landscape. Winter was particularly upset that this part of the world lacked snow; it was so close to the volcanic mountain that the constant heat prevented the setting of such a fragile precipitation. And, if she was to be attacked by Savages, at least she would have a clearer view of them with their dark pelts contrasting the ivory, powdery substance.
Exhaling slowly, Winter paused in her tracks. She gathered her muscles and threw her head upwards with majestic grace, letting her voice echo through the mummified landscape in a beautiful howl that only a wild-born wolf could sing. She let her voice carry far and wide, unafraid of being heard. Let them come; Savages, beasts, and other Immortals alike. She would fight them all. She would avenge her father, and prove to the others that she was more than just a silent season of ice.

She was nature's predator; a tainted killer with a single purpose. Eyes were the hellholes of all eternity, ruby depths roaring with flames that promised sweet, brutal misfortune. Body was Satan's to control, morbid anatomy slipping through the soot-lined forest like that of a snake - silent and deadly - whilst lips remained upturned. Mother would have smacked that smug grin right off the woman's face, Savage or not; such a shame she had been long gone, by the hands of Mercy's own peers. Tongue slipped from between creased lips, thick organ lolling around flavored chops to remove the remains of her most recent coincidence, the blood still fresh and tangy against her taste buds. This one had been a loss, for the young man had been strong at heart, full of devotion and an ambitious attitude; if only he could see the reality of this twisted world. The Savages were in control; why did so many choose to ignore that fact? It would lead to many misfortunes such as the one just passed, but in the end, did they not always say that 'the strong will survive'? Mercy was strong, and that is why she longed for such revenge against the Immortals. She knew deep down that they were the cause of such tainted innocent - she had once been so loyal! So trusting to them! - and how did they all choose to repay her? Banishment.
Mercy could not withhold the startling growl that ruptured from her vocals, vibrating through slabs of fur and shattering the fiendish silence from where she stood. They had caused all of her hurt, pain, and most of all, the loss of her son. Nikolas... oh, sweet Nikolas had been such a joy to her life. If she were to meet him now - in this state of mind - she would surely be putty in his hands, dumbstruck at the miracle fate threw upon her. What were the chances of that, though? She was a monster, a killer, a villain -- why would Fate repay her with such kindness and serenity? It was hardly something she deserved, which led her back to the Immortals. They were the corrupters of her purity, and she only had them to blame for turning to the Savages, whom loathed for revenge. The howl reached her ears, next - that sickly sweet sound caressing very ounce of her being and causing her to recoil. Speak of the devil.
Her body flung forward, limbs outstretching to carry her at unimaginable speeds towards the source of the intruder. These were Savage lands, where they were allowed to wallow and wait for their victims. Perhaps Mercy would get lucky, and have another coincidence this daunting afternoon! She spotted the impostor easily among the sea of grey, her alabaster complexion vivid and obvious to any person's gaze. She would know her anywhere; a woman of such exquisite beauty and wintry allure couldn't be anyone but the daughter of the former Immortal. Mercy hung back within the shadows, while slick voice would ooze from her lips, thick and dark like black strap molasses. ''What do you think you're doing here? Did Daddy never teach you to be afraid of monsters?'' Her voice was a hiss as she kept to the shadows, coat blending in rather impressively to her surroundings, while a chuckle would follow suite of her words. Let the games begin.
